Been enjoying some new designs. Portland, Nauvoo, and Logan Temples. Fun change from the production of Salt Lake City that most people want. Thanks for the chance to try something new.

The Game Changer
For what ever reason, this plank I painted for the wedding of my niece Nicole, has changed the game. With Niki's wedding coming I decided to paint her the Temple. A pretty crazy idea considering she was not only her High School Sterling Scholar for ART, but because she is an Art Major at BYU. Nicole displayed this piece at the wedding reception and I've been busy ever since. I've done quite a few of these with many others on the way. I've had an amazing response to the Temple Series. It is also the true reason for this blog. I have been asked by many to show my other planks. So here are a few of them.
My Hero
One of my greatest interests in all the world is Football. Mostly because of this man. Walter Payton. The greatest of all time. My first sport memories are of watching him, collecting his cards and trying to draw him in action. Boy the first few looked pretty scary. My Little ( 6'4") brother Todd shares my love for the Bears, and of course number 34. Naturally this summer, when he and his wife had their first SON, I had to make sure little boy Russon will follow in our footsteps.
Welcome to the world of FOOTBALL little buddy.

Office art
Shortly after my Iron Man attempt, we at the office, painted and got new furniture and carpet for the boss's. We wanted something personal on the walls for each of them. We affectionately call Brent "the Godfather". Thus his plank was born.
My Uncle Scott is in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I painted the famous pipes for his side of the office.
Another fun project.

Nice to have eccentric friends

Fitting that my first piece was done for some great friends, who later would commission my first paid plank. The Hillers, who have done a lot for us, including taking me to London, I guess for my "metro" understanding of scrap booking products. But really they did it to get me over there to visit my little sis Kellee. About the time the Avengers came out they informed us they had become too good for Ranch Road, moving to a new home. Andrew is basically Toni Stark so this was fitting for his Theater room. Rani let me know that Andrew sees himself more like Bruce Wayne, so the batman plank was commissioned to go across the isle.
Both were fun, thanks Hillers...
Maiden Voyage
This new venture will be difficult for me . I'm not one to share much with others, much less via Google. I don't even have a Facebook account. Not to mention that this blog might just be for all the wrong reasons. I should be here to share wonderful stories and experiences from my life, great times with the kids and my amazing wife. Instead, it's because of their support, that I am starting this blog to share what I see as my "hobbie". I have been touched by the response to the first of these projects, so thank you family and friends. I don't see myself as an artist, more I love and always have loved to create. Take raw materials of any kind and make something useful, fun, beautiful and many times stupid. As many of you know (LORI) creativity is surely a curse. Many sleepless nights planning and coming up with useless ideas and solutions. For every one idea that works, there must be fifty that are laughable. That should be my next blog, all the dumb ideas and weird creations that have stole my dreams. We will see, for now, I will just keep it simple. Plank Art, a medium that fuses my passion of woodwork and a newly found love of painting. Hope you enjoy.....
